Mad Maestro is a long (read: looooooooooooooong) time ally and fam to Illamental, and has been instrumental (literally) in the creation of several of our projects including Building Blocks and several Vox Merger tracks.
Javon Frazier, producer for Mad Maestro, is releasing his Shadow Boxer LP, which includes new tracks and remixes like the one above – American Pie by Vox Merger + Kiesha Cotton. Visit MadMaestro.com to listen to here more of Shadown Boxer.
Hip hop smoothed out on the R&B tip with a soul feel appeal to it! A long awaited release by the first lady and resident vocalist of Illamental, Kiesha Cotton. Listen below to Sacrifice.

Remember When Hip Hop was this? Remember When Hip Hop was that? At a time where the future of Hip Hop is regularly questioned, and the constant debate about what’s “real” is still a hot topic; it’s often times hard to see beyond the obvious. Whenthe same songs from the 70s and 80s were not only remixed in the 90s, but re-remixed again in the 2000s. When live instruments have been replaced with repetitive sounds. SoulChef’s release “Remember When…” takes a look back at the yesteryear of hip hop. His soulfully jazzy approach at production is mixed with live instruments and complimented by a talented line-up of artists who help paint his picture. This 10 track album is a nostalgic look at the fundamental Hip Hop we all originally fell in love with.
Bamm Tronics takes a swing at remixing Bambu’s “The Queen Is Dead” from his recent EP release, …paper cuts… . Check out the ‘Jazzamental Remix’, download and share with the world. It gets you laid…
Our label kinfolks Kamikazi Airlines just dropped a new mix CD, that features several tracks from the Illamental fam-bam. All cuts handled by our brother in hip-hop arms, JABAone!
New song by Bamm Tronics, The Gotta Gotta is available for listening & downloading. Jungle of Ones & Zeros is now a “Fluid Project” (yeah we just made that up) and songs will be added/released as they make the cut.
Honestly not much of a story to go behind this one. I had been holding onto this beat for a loooooooong time. Was really feelin’ myself with the way I chopped up the sample and the way it lead me to make that atypical drum pattern (Mr. Tronics does not use break beats or drum loops haha).
I tried passing this beat off to a few people in the camp and even wrote a few verses to it myself. I think it still goes hard, but after so many years of being locked up in the vault GoNuts died of suffocation. Shoulda took small breaths like Phil Cantone.
